WebMar 20, 2024 · To rule out #2, when you get the "low battery" message in the car, take the batteries out of the fob and measure them with a volt meter to see if the voltage is truly low. A new battery should be around 3.2-3.3 volts. You shouldn't get the low battery message until the battery drops below 3v. This will tell you if the message is real or not. WebDec 14, 2024 · You should have a minimum of 2 working fobs at all times or you risk a very costly repair situation since, AFAIK, at least one working fob is required to key new fobs to the vehicle. The safest thing to do would be to replace it with a new fob. You might also try disassembling it and cleaning the switches with alcohol.
